WAVE: A Hydrofeminist Performance

“We are all bodies of water! What we do to water, we do to everybody, including ourselves.”

–– Astrida Neimanis

“In me everything is already flowing,

–– Luce Irigaray

Wave Collective’s mission, inspired by the WAVE project, is rooted in the philosophy of hydrofeminism, which places water at the core of our existence and artistic expression. Instead of looking at the world as divided lands, we attempt to look into the world as connected by water underneath, both artistically and environmentally.

WAVE assembles a vibrant community of artists from various disciplines, including theater, classical music, sound installations, visual and projection arts, and dance. By transcending the boundaries between these art forms, we aim to create a fluid and dynamic tapestry of creativity. “Wave” aims to create a unique and immersive experience for audiences, and increase public awareness about a thinking inspired by water on ocean protection and environmental advocacy.

Work 02

When I look at myself

Work as the dramaturg for interdisciplinary performance/video project.

Introspection on the histories of women’s bodies.

I joined the artistic team of Star Yuexing Sun (Theater Director) and Etonmars Tang (Video/ Photography director) as a dramaturg in a three-week workshop in Shanghai, China. Collaborating with a group of female-identifying artists and performers, we started a journey not to seek something somewhere far away but to uncover what lies within our own bodies.
