孙也佳 Sun Yejia is from Beijing, China, and is currently based in the United States. She moves between languages, disciplines, and identities: daughter, student, cat mom, bilingual reader and writer, and an artist-scholar who occasionally feels like an impostor (but has learned that this feeling may simply be part of life).
In an “adult version” of a bio, she would love to be introduced by her artistic and scholarly work.
In the U.S., her dramaturgical and independent multidisciplinary projects have been presented at venues including National Sawdust, Exponential Festival (JACK), Rhino Fest, Cellunova New Play Festival (Theaterlab), and Accent Sisters. She currently co-leads two multidisciplinary initiatives: Tongues Collective (multilingual documentary theater, supported by NYSCA and LMCC, among others) and Tiandi Universal Market (supported by A4 WCWD funding). In China, her dramaturgical work has been featured at the Goethe-Institut Shanghai, Rockbound Museum, Young Theatre, and the Shekou Theatre Festival, among others. Her essays have appeared in ATJ(book review), Theatre Journal(performance review), Critical Stages, HowlRound, and YingMing Theater. She has received fellowships and support including the Davis Project for Peace Fellowship, A4 WCWD Fellowship, Lisa Lu Scholarship, and SNF PHI funding.
